Tapestry or tapestry is a precise form of textile art and has long belonged not only on the stone walls of castles.

Although tapestries were very popular in Europe in the Middle Ages, their popularity slowly declined as they took a very long time and were expensive to produce.

By combining artistic craftsmanship and innovation, the tradition of tapestry has been given a modern twist and brought into contemporary homes.

The tapestry cushion cover is woven with 100% cotton thread on a jacquard loom.

We offer a large selection of high quality tapestry pillowcases with classic designs as well as reproductions of famous 20th century artworks, medieval tapestries and famous paintings from the past.

Size: 45x45 cm

The other side is beige cotton fabric.

TIP: we recommend using it on a 50x50 cm pillow to create a fuller shape.

From the history of tapestries:

Although today we consider tapestries to be a European affair, their ancestry can be traced back to around 4000 years ago. The first references come from the Orient and ancient Egypt, the textile technique arrived with the Arabs in the Iberian Peninsula, and reached France around the 9th century. The earliest European tapestry was woven in Cologne in the 11th century, but France is considered the cradle of the textile craft. Behind the label tapestry, we should probably look for the dyer Jean Gobelin, who set up weaving workshops in Paris in the 15th century; these eventually gave birth to one of the oldest tapestry manufactories.
